I already showed you the change in the kitchen, but have not yet shared the other rooms.
The above picture is the dining room now, here is a before picture.
You can see a before picture here.
We decided to change the furniture around to make room for the buffet over there in front of the window.
We had it in the basement since we moved in because we didn't think we had room for it upstairs.
I bought it before we got married at a Flea Market for $100.
I found the hutch on Uncle Henry's. I painted it black, added some new silver hardware and it looks like new.
Before picture here.
Should I paint this buffet?
I can not decide. It is already painted a yellowish color that I do like, but I want to do something different.
I was thinking black, like the hutch, or maybe a fern green? Gray is another color I have been debating.
Maybe even a light blue?
Things are pretty neutral around here, so almost anything would work.
Tell me what you think, and don't forget about that dress giveaway here.

There are already a lot of neutrals in there. I say go with color - fern green would be great.
I love this color and can't wait to thrift an old dresser and paint it this color. Sorry to throw a wrinkle in your design process, but had to share.

I too like the color but in my opinion it doesn't bring the room together. I'd love to see that fern color. It's fern is horrible - then black with sliver knobs..classy!
Hugs Jess!
I'm thinking black would pick up the border around the rugs, as well as the gorgeous armoire. So sleek and crisp and it's not too big a piece to have more black on.
Love all the changes!
i'm a fan of furniture painted robins egg blue or sunny yellow.
I love its current color...but fern would probably be lovely, too. Black would match the rest nicely, true, but I think it might hide some of the pretty details on it.
Hmm... I'm in furniture painting mode as well. I'd vote for the green or the blue.
Fern green would be nice, but you have a knack for picking a lovely neutral...so trust yourself, Katie.
hello! oh i am seeing fern green...i do like your neutrals in your home though.
Very pretty! I like the suggestion to paint the buffet black. I think it would coordinate well with the black hutch on the other side of the room and your new black dining room chairs. It will also play up the trim on your area carpet.
Oh, I love it! It looks great the way it is, but I think grey would also be really interesting.
I think our dining room chairs are identical. I have always loved all the white in your home... and because of that I have often thought why did I pick black chairs. I was thrilled to see the black chairs around your table! Maybe I should trust my decorating decisions more. Your buffet is beautiful in your living room.

Okay, so I just bought this:

and I could totally see that sideboard painted in a similar fashion. Sort of a gray/blue distressed look.
Your dining table looks like mine. Except, I don't actually let anyone use it unless it's covered because I'm sort of kooky like that...
